As this young deer in front of the Kentucky State Capitol shows, deer are more visible than ever in many of Kentucky’s largest cities. Regulated archery hunting is the best option for the control of deer numbers in urban and suburban areas. The city of Fort Thomas in Campbell County allowed archery hunting beginning in 2007 within city limits to help control the deer population. Hunters harvested 100 deer since the program started.
